I am taking part in 2014 The Year of The Fairytale present by http://www.carlasonheim.com/ . She is a wonderful teacher! If you ant to broaden your illustration talents, think about taking one of her classes.
This on-line art study is the most fun I've had in a long time. I was always consumed with having my drawing look a certain way. This class is very freeing. I hope by the end of the year I have my style established. But what is even better is that my daughter is drawing with me.
We were told at the beginning of Kindergarten that she was kind of failing art. She was not very good at expressing herself by drawing. My husband thought that was a ridiculous statement because he's not into art and felt that if her drawing of a person had 1 head, 2 arms and 2 legs it was good in his book.
You can't force someone to create art.
Reading the fariy tale with me and creating a princess character was fun for her and she made great improvments in her art and her feelings towards drawing. That means more than all the techniques I can learn!
So, here are first month's assignments:
Character Development: The Frog Princess
Here are The Kid's paintings:
The next assignment is 3 spot illustrations for the story using mixed media. I used watercolor, ink and collage.
