Welcome to the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! A few years ago we were looking online for handmade gift ideas and thought it would be great if there was a resource dedicated JUST to handmade gift ideas. Enter the Handmade Holidays hop! We've gathered over 100 of our creative blogger friends in the craft industry as well as some of our fellow product manufacturers to bring you a plethora of inspiring gift ideas you can make now to give to your friends, family, and colleagues. Pin and bookmark these ideas for this holiday season and to use throughout the year! Each day of the hop features approximately 30 gift projects and you can "hop" from one blog to another to check them all out.
Today, I created a gift for all of those moms (or fur mommas) that have to stand outside or go on walks outside in the early morning, (read before the sun is up) with the kids waiting for the bus (or walking the fur babies)
This reflective mug cozy keeps your morning beverage warm, gives your hands a nice soft cup to hug and is reflective to help you be noticed in the dark, in your still sleepy state. Ha, ha.
But seriously the reflective property gives it just a little bit of shine that gets you noticed while taking Fido on that quick morning walk!
I knit the cozy using the Reflective Yarn by Red Heart. Plus, I also used a rhinestone buckle from The Buckle Boutique for the button to give it that special bling that makes every girl smile.
The knitting pattern is simple:
You need 1 ball of the Reflective Yarn
US 9 Knitting needles
a buckle
yarn needle to finish
Instructions:
Cast on 14 stitiches.
Row1, 3, 5: K3, P2, K4, P2, K3
Row2, 4, 6: K5, P4, K5
Row 7: K3, P2, Cable 4 front, P2, K3
Row8: K5, P4, K5
Repeat this pattern until the knitted piece measures 9inches. Bind off. Weave in ends. I chained a 4" piece to creat the button loop on one end, on the opposite I stitched the buckle on.
